Vision Plan 05/20/2010

Sitting down to work out a plan is as difficult as doing taxes. But one way to overcome procrastination and make planning fun is through setting a vision plan. We need to have a vision to plan our future for our families, our jobs, and our children. In Proverbs 6:6-8 God tells us to watch the ants and consider their ways. “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.” The ants are a perfect example of how we should plan. They do not just eat for today, but they plan for the future.

God does not want us to be a sluggard or a lazy person, but to be wise. So let us consider the ant for a minute and how it applies to having a vision plan. The Word of God tells us that the ant has no leader or ruler over them, and yet they instinctively know what to do. Pay close attention the next time you step on an ant hill. There appears to be thousands of ants rushing to come together to rebuild. They do what needs to be done.

We all get lazy at some point in our life. However, there is no time to waste sitting around waiting for someone else to fulfill your vision. Like the ants, we must be internally motivated to do what needs to be done to fulfill our purpose or vision. With vision, comes passion. Your emotions are powerful and they can motivate you to achieve any goal you desire. For most people, goals are not real enough, because they either lack passion or fear and doubt creep in to put a damper on their emotions. If you can see yourself enjoying the fruits of success, you are more likely to be motivated to work the steps necessary to be successful. Remember, without a vision the people perish (Proverbs 29:18).
